Quality renovations with customer service in mind

Bathroom Renovations

You can turn a 20 year old bathroom into the most spectacular room in your home or villa.  Even though most villas do not have the room to add space to your bathroom, simply choosing high-quality materials can make your bathrooms appear larger and breath-taking.

GriffDecker Construction recommends tile in your bathroom, both on the floor and on the walls.  We feel that wood flooring in a bathroom can lead to potential twisting/warping issues.  This is due both to the humid climate here in Charleston and the moisture in the air from showering.

You can select bathroom materials from a multitude of sources, including:

Tile:

Faucets/Shower control valves -- GriffDecker recommends using Delta, Moen, or Kohler faucets, shower control valves and trim.  This is due to their high durability combined with a wide range of styles and finishes.  You can look for these fixtures at either Lowe's or Home Depot, or at a local plumbing supply store.  We should be able to find your selections with no problem.  Be sure to tell us if they are special order items so we can order them ahead of time to streamline your renovation.

Vanities -- As with kitchen cabinets, GriffDecker recommends looking at Lowe's or Home Depot.  They carry in-stock items of a variety of styles, plus you can typically order bathroom vanities in any of the kitchen cabinet styles they carry.  Again, if choosing a vanity from a kitchen cabinet line, let us know early so we can order it and have it ready for your bathroom.

Granite:
GriffDecker will use any granite installer you choose, but we recommend Emerson-Hyatt.  We've had a good relationship with Emerson-Hyatt, and are very pleased with both their turnaround time and workmanship.

This is the master bathroom in a Night Heron villa.  We removed the bathtub, built the shower pan, and installed Kohler Sterling glass shower doors (available at Lowe's).  The 12" x 12" wall tiles are arranged in a "staggered" or "brick" pattern.  The floor tiles are 2" x 2".  The wall shelf is a 12" shelf which is tiled with wall tiles after installation.

This is the master bathroom in a Turtle Point villa.  Here we removed the traditional cabinet style vanities and built a framework for the vanities out of lumber, then had Star Marble install the marble on the counter tops and the front facades of the vanity areas.  The Kohler faucets mounted to the wall through the mirror give the bathroom an added touch of elegance.

This is another view of the Turtle Point master bathroom.  We removed the bathtub and built a custom shower pan.  The 8" x 8" wall tiles are installed in a straight pattern, as are the 3" x 3" floor tiles.  This shower includes both a traditional shower head plus a hand-held shower.

This is the guest bathroom in a Night Heron villa.  The wall tiles are 8" x 12" installed in a straight pattern with round porcelain corner shelves.  The shower doors are Kohler Sterling doors in a brushed nickel finish.

This is the master bathroom (vanity area) of a Night Heron villa.  Initially this area was carpeted, but GriffDecker recommends tiling the floor in this area, due to the possibility of water from the vanity soaking the floor.  The vanity is a stock vanity from Lowe's, with granite from Star Marble and brushed nickel faucets from Delta.

This photo also shows the hardwood floor, new baseboards, door trim, and new solid core raised panel doors installed by GriffDecker, which makes this area refreshing and bright.
